Apple is widely expected to launch the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro in September. A reliable source claims that the new smartphones will be released during the week of Sept. 12 and likely on Friday, Sept. 16.

Reports claim that Apple has abandoned its usual two-year iPhone cycle that has consisted of a completely redesigned smartphone, followed by an "S" moniker release the following year. The 2015 iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are virtually the same design as that of its predecessors, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but include a few upgrades in the camera department and exclusive features such as 3D Touch.

Apple has reportedly adopted a new three year iPhone cycle that will introduce completely redesigned models every three years. This seems plausible considering that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro look virtually identical to that of its predecessors, with a few tweaks.

The gold iPhone 7 recently leaked and showed a device that looks very similar to the iPhone 6s but its antenna bands no longer run across the rear of the device, and instead have been placed at the top and bottom of the device. The smartphone also appeared in a video that compared its design to that of the iPhone 6s and also confirmed that it will feature a larger rear camera.

The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus/Pro has also made the rounds and a series of reportedly final production rear aluminum cases for the smartphone backs up claims that it will ship with an enhanced dual-lens rear camera.

Now, the always-reliable tipster, Evan Blass has posted on Twitter when consumers can expect to purchase the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro. According to Blass, the 2016 iPhones will be released during the week of Sept. 12, but has updated his post immediately to clarify.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro are rumored to feature faster A10 processors, M10 motion processors, faster LTE and Wi-Fi radios, base storage starting out at 32 GB as opposed to 16 GB. The iPhone 7 is believed to feature an upgraded rear camera that will finally include OIS (something that has only been offered on the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus). While the iPhone 7 Plus/Pro will use a dual-lens rear camera. Both models are also expected to include larger internal batteries.

As always, we'll keep you posted on any new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro news as it becomes available.
