Accounting software firm Sage had redesigned its apps to work better with the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Sage, one of the UK's largest tech companies, said its Sage One and Sage Live products have been optimized for iOS; the company has also joined Apple's mobile partner programme.

The iOS-optimized versions of the Sage software will allow accountants to use their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch to work on the move: Sage said it worked with Apple to redesign user interfaces to make the most of iOS features like 3D Touch location services and TouchID. The company said it will continue to work on including new iOS features.

In May, Sage launched Sage Expenses, a free iPhone and iPad app for small and micro-businesses to manage their expenses.

Sage CEO Stephen Kelly said: "Sage has worked closely with software and design experts at Apple to fine tune and optimize the Sage One and Sage Live experiences for iOS, as well as create an exciting new Apple Watch application. By creating beautiful, easy-to-use applications, we're able to maintain the best user experience that customers love, giving business owners peace of mind that their workflow will not be interrupted."

Apple has been gradually expanding its enterprise business as part of its quest to find new revenue streams in the face of slackening smartphone and tablet sales. It has signed up a number of big tech companies, including IBM, SAP, and Cisco, to provide services on iPhone and iPad for enterprise customers.
