Microsoft launches private preview of shift-worker scheduling app
Making scheduling more productive seems to be a big goal at Microsoft right now.
Earlier this week, Microsoft was discovered to have launched a private preview of a new scheduling app codenamed Project Sonoma.
The app is available for both iOS and Android. As MSPowerUser initially reported, the app seems to be focused on helping those who do shift work -- or work for which schedules are constantly changing -- track their schedules.
According to a statement from a Microsoft spokesperson, Project Sonoma was developed internally by the company, and it's not based on technology acquired via an acquisition.
News of Microsoft's foray into shift-work scheduling comes the same week the company announced it had purchased Genee, makers of a scheduling service/bot, for an undisclosed amount.
Genee is designed to make scheduling and rescheduling meetings, especially for larger groups, easier -- especially when organizers don't have access to others' calendars.
Microsoft officials said they plan to close down Genee as of September 1 and add its technology to the company's family of Office 365 productivity software and services.
