Earlier today, Microsoft released Windows 10 build 14926 for both PC and Mobile, bringing a few new features, namely new Wi-Fi settings when it comes to phones. Shortly after that, users began reporting issues.
You can see that our comment section shows a number of users for which their device isn't recognizing their SIM card. Others - and some of the same people - reported that they were unable to enter their PIN.
Microsoft has since acknowledged the problem, adding a known issue for each. Luckily, there's a workaround. The company says that a factory reset should solve the problem.
At this point, you're probably asking how you can do a factory reset without being able to unlock your phone. After all, using the Windows Device Recovery Tool would force you to upgrade again, and you'd likely have the same problems.
Here are the steps to manually do a factory reset:
Press and hold the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10-15 seconds).
When you feel the vibration, release the buttons, and then immediately press and hold the Volume down button until you see a large exclamation mark.
Once the exclamation mark appears, press the following four buttons in this order: Volume up, Volume down, Power, Volume down. Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the reset to finish.).
