Ingram brings Aussie resellers 'world-class' VDI bundle from IGEL, Cisco and Samsung

IGEL has recruited Cisco and Samsung for a new solution that bundles the components needed to deploy virtual desktop infrastructure in one package.

The new solution was developed with ease-of-use in mind, according to IGEL vice president ANZ Ward Nash, who said it would reduce complexity during rollouts. The new solution means resellers don't have to negotiate with multiple vendors for the same project and will have the components best fit for each deployment, Nash said.

The solution uses IGEL's range of thin client hardware and operating software combined with end-point devices from Samsung and networking equipment from Cisco. Ingram Micro is also on board for sales, distribution and services.

Ingram Micro general manager Lee Welch said it was a step forward for delivering virtual workspaces.

“This approach of bringing together key suppliers to deliver a range of pre-configured virtual workspace solutions, removes much of the uncertainty for IT professionals and end-users alike. Ingram is well positioned to help our partners with a complete VDI solution and we are excited for the growth opportunity it will bring the channel,” he said.

Nash told CRN the company envisioned the solution would be suited for deployments for customers with between 250 and 500 seats.

“This collaboration brings together some of the best vendors in the world, and truly revolutionises the virtual workspace," he said.

"By working together, we can offer better value and a simplified solution, but still deliver an absolutely world-class product to the forward-thinking companies of ANZ, and eventually the rest of the world.”

The new solution debuted at VMware's vForum conference in Sydney this week. VMware provided software for the initial rollout.
