Microsoft Azure adds Pivotal's Cloud Foundry

Pivotal said its Cloud Foundry will be available on Microsoft Azure in a move that connects cloud Java and .NET apps. The addition of Azure complements Pivotal Cloud Foundry on Amazon Web Services.

The Pivotal cloud platform will run natively on Azure. Pivotal, part of Dell Technologies via Dell's EMC acquisition, has been expanding its footprint and serves as the backbone for GE and Ford's cloud applications.

According to Microsoft and Pivotal, Cloud Foundry and Azure have a bevy of integrations such as service brokers and global support.

Azure will also support Pivotal Cloud Foundry Ops Manager, which uses tiles much like Windows 10 to deploy services.

Microsoft said it enabled Cloud Foundry on Azure since November 2015, but the Pivotal collaboration includes more enterprise perks for joint customers. Those perks include support, one-click marketplace deployments and support for Java, Spring and 12-factor apps.
