The need to detect security breaches quickly is a particularly pressing need for corporate entities, according to Terry Greer King, Director of Security for Cisco UKI & Africa.

"You need people who can interpret the data and use the data quickly. That is one of the ways you can bring a breach down. We also engage with authorities around the globe quickly to address the issues."

Cisco typically detects security breaches within 13 hours, whereas the common time frame for detecting breaches can be in excess of 100 days.

Mr Greer King added: "We put a lot of resources into the area and have a lot of talented people who can identify these things. That costs money, but it is something we are committed to and something that we do well," he told Dublin Info Sec 2016 at Dublin's RDS.
