Apple 'Cyber Monday' 2016 Deals: How Good Are They?

This article is more than 7 years old.

Looking for an Apple bargain on Cyber Monday? Here is a breakdown of the deals from Best Buy, Target and Walmart…

Note: my thanks to BestBlackFriday.com which has worked with me to collate these deals and create order from the inevitable annual chaos

Star Buys

Top quality Apple deals are few and far between this Cyber Monday, a situation not helped by Apple itself offering weak gift card-only discounts (and even then only on older models) which has taken the pressure off retailer to compete. Consequently only these deals standout:

  • Target - Apple iPad Pro 12.9 Inch 32GB Wi-Fi From $679.99 After 15% Discount at Checkout - product link - better than any Black Friday offer on this model.
  • Walmart - Straight Talk Apple iPhone 5S 16GB 4G LTE Prepaid Smartphone for $149 (save $301) - product link - an old model but such a huge discount this is hard to ignore
  • Best Buy - The Original Apple Watch. Save up to $400 - product link - as above

Solid Deals

Best Buy rules the Cyber Monday roost in the Solid Deals category this year:

  • Best Buy - Save up to $150 on Select MacBooks - product link - far from an exclusive deal but a solid discount
  • Best Buy - Buy 1 iTunes Gift Card, Get 1 20% Off - product link
  • Best Buy - 50% Off Select Accessories for Apple Watch - product link
  • Best Buy - Get a minimum $250 Best Buy gift card when you trade in a select MacBook Pro. Or, get a minimum $150 gift card when you trade in a select MacBook Air (In-Store Only) - product link - in-store only and Cyber Monday only but an okay deal
  • Best Buy - Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2 Starting at $269 - product link
  • Target - iTunes multipack — $100 + $10 Bonus - in-store only and for Cyber Monday only

Treat With Caution

While Star Buys and Solid Deals on Apple products are few and far between on Cyber Monday 2016, there are a lot of deals you should be wary of:

  • Best Buy - Save $100 with iPhone and Select Beats Wireless Headphones - product link - requires monthly install plan or lease agreement and weaker than Black Friday $250 gift card offers. Also Beats headphones are style over substance
  • Target - Apple iPad Pro 9.7 inch Wi-Fi From $509.99 After 15% Discount at Checkout - Target offered this for $449 on Black Friday so a big downgrade
  • Target - Apple TV (3rd Generation) for $69.99 (no discount) + Extra 15% Off at Checkout ($59.49 total) - product link - was 25% off on Black Friday
  • Target - Apple® TV (4th Generation) 32GB for $149.99 (no discount) + Extra 15% Off at Checkout ($127.49 total) - product link - as above
  • Target - Apple® TV (4th Generation) 64GB for $199.99 (no discount) + Extra 15% Off at Checkout ($169.99 total) - product link - as above
  • Best Buy - Apple TV - 64GB – Black for $169.99 (save $30 / 17%) - product link - as above
  • Best Buy - Apple TV - 32GB – Black for $127.49 (save $22.50) - product link - as above
  • Walmart - Apple TV (32GB) for $139 (save $10) - product link - both Target and Best Buy have been deals than this
  • Walmart - Apple TV (64GB) for $188.99 (save $11) - product link - as above

My Cyber Monday 2016 deals for Amazon, Best Buy, Target Walmart are all below along with my Best Of roundup for Black Friday where several deals remain on sale until Monday morning. Given the paucity of strong Apple deals this year, I'd suggest you check out the excellent deals that are available on other products:
