The only certainties in life are death, taxes and that upcoming products from other companies will kill currently shipping products from Apple.
Writing for The Boy Genius Report, Chris Smith says “The Galaxy S8 should beat the iPhone 7 with one brand-new feature.” (Tip o’ the antlers to @designheretic.)
How do Apple competitors do it?! Why does Apple bother to even compete when surely they are doomed just a few months from now? As Pee-Wee Herman said, it’s like unravelling a sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting…
The Galaxy S8 will bring several brand new features to Galaxy fans, and Bluetooth 5.0 support should be one of them, a new report reveals.
Should. Maybe. It’s possible. I’m not sure.
But let’s give the company that makes the exploding phones the benefit of the doubt here. That only seems fair. We can safely assume that they will deliver an updated Bluetooth standard and that everything will go swimmingly.
Making Samsung things about Apple is a pattern with Smith who previously suggested “The Galaxy Note 7 fiasco may be bad news for Apple’s new MacBooks”.
One wonders why a new Bluetooth standard is such a big deal when it is a known fact that everyone in the world loves only wired headphones. Surely the Galaxy S8 will come with a 3.5mm headphone j-
“Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S8 to Ditch Headphone Jack.”
Ah. Well. So, Samsung may be set to follow Apple (again) by removing the headphone jack. But instead of flipping tables over it like we did with Apple, let us line up to laud Asplodeyphone, Inc. for maybe including a new Bluetooth standard. Let us also say nothing at all about AirPods or Apple’s W1 chip, which are currently shipping and very well reviewed, and were designed to alleviate some of the pain of Bluetooth. Surely these details are irrelevant to the discussion of Samsung’s device beating Apple’s.
The Bluetooth SIG consortium, of which Samsung is a member of [sic], said that Bluetooth 5.0 devices should arrive “within two to six months,” which seems to indicate that the Galaxy S8 might be included in the first wave of Bluetooth 5.0-ready devices.
Apple is also a member of the Bluetooth SIG consortium, and at a higher level than Samsung, if you’re trying to imply that membership has its privileges.
SamMobile heard from a source that there’s a possibility the Galaxy S8 will support Bluetooth 5.0.
Gerry heard it from the guy and the guy says it might be in there. So the iPhone 7 is dead.
It’s not really surprising that new devices will feature new standards. That’s kind of the point. But a new Bluetooth standard isn’t going to “beat” the iPhone 7.
