Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Processor Specs, News, Update: Intel Core i7 7700K Designed For Personal-Computer Enthusiasts And Gamers [VIDEO]

By

In early Jan. 2017, the semiconductor manufacturing company, Intel, is slated to roll out its seventh-generation Core processors for desktop personal computers, which is dubbed as Kaby Lake. The highest end of the Kaby Lake variants will be a chip known as the Core i7 7700K, the chip is said to target at personal-computer enthusiasts, as well as gamers.

The gaming industry, though a relatively small portion of the microprocessor giant's overall business, is the one that is rapidly growing. It's also a market that the company has previously stated it wants to boost their focus.

Nevertheless, according to a respected technology review site, HardOCP, they get a hold of a pre-release sample of the Intel Core i7 7700K and ran the chip through the wringer. The test results essentially showed that the Core i7 7700K delivers the same performance per clock cycle just like the previous generation Skylake Core i7 6700K.

Also, the Intel Core i7 7700K runs at a higher clock frequency and the chip has the potential to be overclocked. The performance of Core i7 7700K is generally a function of the work that a processor can do per clock cycle, and the number of clock cycles per second. The Intel Core i7 7700K consumes up to 12.84% less power compared to the 6700K.

Nonetheless, the Intel Core i7-7700K processor is designed to replace the existing Intel Core i7-6700K. Wherein, the Intel Core i7-7700K processor comes along with an identical 91W TDP and a 4-core, 8-thread configuration.

The base frequency of the Core i7-7700K processor has been boosted from 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz, while the turbo has been bumped up from 4.2GHz to 4.5GHz. Furthermore, the same amount of level 3 cache is deployed in Intel's upcoming processor. The Core i7-7700K processor also comes along with backwards compatibility with Z170 motherboards that provides the latest BIOS, Eteknix reported.
