AMD Ryzen Processor Lineup Leaked Sporting 17 SKUs With 8, 6 And 4 Cores Versions

AMD boss Dr. Lisa Su recently confirmed that Ryzen, the company's highly anticipated next generation CPU architecture, will launch to retail in early March. Up to this point AMD has been tight lipped about the processor lineup that will comprise Ryzen, though a Chinese-language website is posting what it says is a leaked list of AMD's full Ryzen launch featuring no less than 17 CPUs.

Take this with a slab of salt, but if the leaked list is accurate, AMD will have quad-core, six-core, and eight-core Ryzen processors ready next month. These are broken down into three categories: R3, R5, and R7. Oddly enough, the leaked list has AMD using model numbers that are similar to its GPU lineup, which could get confusing for consumers. All 17 CPUs have unlocked multipliers as well, which at least is something that is consistent with what we've heard and reported on previously.

In any event, here is a look at the alleged top-end R7 processors:
  • R7 1800X: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • R7 Pro 1800: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • R7 1700X: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • R7 1700: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • R7 Pro 1700: 8 cores, 16 threads
According to the leak, these processors will range in clockspeed from 3GHz to 3.6GHz, or thereabouts. The Ryzen R7 1800X is said to compete with Intel's Core i7-6900K. The R7 1700X will be competitive with Intel's Core i7-7700K and 6800K processors, while the R7 1700 is listed as being comparable to Intel's Core i7-7700.

Moving on, here's a look at what's supposed to be the R5 lineup:
  • R5 1600X: 6 cores, 12 threads
  • R5 Pro 1600: 6 cores, 12 threads
  • R5 1500: 6 cores, 12 threads
  • R5 Pro 1500: 6 cores, 12 threads
  • R5 1400X: 4 cores, 8 threads
  • R5 Pro 1400: 4 cores, 8 threads
  • R5 1300: 4 cores, 8 threads
  • R5 Pro 1300: 4 cores, 8 threads
The R5 family will include both six-core and quad-core processors, both clocked at around 3.2GHz to 3.5GHz. Intel's Core i5-6700K, Core i5-7600, and Core i5-7500 will be the competitive models to the top three R5 Ryzen CPUs, while the R5 1400X will compete with Intel's Core i5-7400.

Finally, there is the R3 line, all of which are quad-core chips. Here is a look at what's being claimed:
  • R3 1200X: 4 cores, 4 threads
  • R3 Pro 1200: 4 cores, 4 threads
  • R3 1100: 4 cores, 4 threads
  • R3 Pro 1100: 4 cores, 4 threads
These chips will be clocked from around 3.1GHz to 3.4GHz. The leaked list didn't indicate which Intel processors they will compete against, though in every case, it will largely depend on price. Unfortunately this list did not include any MSRPs.

Ryzen is what AMD is banking on to make the company competitive again in the enthusiast market. Whether or not it is going to launch 17 Ryzen CPUs, all of which are unlocked, seems like a bit of a stretch to us, but at least we don't have to wait long to find out.
