Acer announces a new range of Windows 10 gaming laptops and monitors

Acer held an event in New York City today, where it announced a new range of products. There are two new gaming laptops under the Predator brand, as well as a monitor.

The most notable laptop is actually an Ultrabook, and it's called the Predator Triton 700. At 18.9mm thin and 2.6kg, the company says that it doesn't compromise performance in favor of its form factor. It uses dual second-generation AeroBlade 3D fans, and the graphics are Nvidia's GeForce GTX 10-series, so there should be some options in that area.

It features a 15.6-inch 1080p display, a Core i7-7700HQ processor, and 16GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 32GB.

The Predator Helios 300 is similar to the Triton, but it won't have the same slim form factor. It's available in 15.6- and 17.3-inch models, both of which are 1080p, and it offers the same processor and RAM options.

The GPU options are a bit more specific, with a choice between an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 and a GTX 1050Ti. While it's much thicker at 26.75mm and 29mm for the smaller and larger models, respectively, it's not all that much heavier at 2.7kg and 3kg.

The Predator X27 gaming monitor is exactly what you see in the image. It's a 27-inch 4K 3840x2160 monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and it supports Nvidia's G-Sync HDR. The biggest selling point is probably the 144Hz refresh rate, the 4ms response time, and the Quantum Dot technology.

But Acer says that while its Predator line grew 64% year-over-year - and it's expecting to do even better this year - 43% of gamers are casual gamers, meaning that while they like to play from time-to-time, it's not all the time.

For these customers, the company announced the Nitro brand, which will start off with the Nitro 5. The firm didn't provide too many specifics on this laptop, but the graphics offerings will include a 2GB or 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, or a GTX 1050Ti. The Nitro 5 will be available in July.

Acer didn't provide any pricing information on its upcoming devices, but you can expect to see them available this summer.
