Each year, the Worldwide Developers Conference offers a golden opportunity for developers looking for an inside scoop on making the most of Apple’s technology. Luckily, you don’t need to attend to gain all that knowledge: Apple just made the 100-plus WWDC 2017 developer sessions available online.
Anyone can watch the videos for free — and even search a massive database of full WWDC session transcripts.
WWDC 2017 sessions: Quite an education
For each of the many, many sessions Apple hosted, you can check out HD and SD view, presentation notes, and a full transcript that’s fully timecoded and linked to that specific point in the video. It’s a gold mine if you want to find out more about features like iOS 11’s drag-and-drop multitasking or Tim Cook’s much-vaunted augmented reality tech.
The website also offers session transcripts dating back to 2015. While some of that material is bound to be outdated given the new versions of macOS and iOS that have come out since then, there are certainly plenty of pointers you can pick up!
Although Apple has long since made WWDC resources available to everyone, and not just the lucky few who get to attend live, it’s a great service the company is offering.
In recent months, Apple has promoted the number of jobs it has helped create due to the app economy. It has also publicized the work its doing in the education market — whether that’s the kid-focused Swift Playgrounds app or making available a new Swift curriculum that will be adopted by six community college systems, serving nearly 500,000 students, this fall.
