has had a very good year.

Its current is, without doubt, the best smartphone of 2017 and the competition will struggle to beat it when the tech gongs get dished out later this year.

Samsung is also likely to reveal its new Note 8 device next month which appears to have all the hallmarks of an award-winning smartphone.

However, before the Korean tech giant begins clearing space in its trophy cabinet there may be one major rival who could throw a seriously big spanner in the works.

latest  looks set be unveiled as early as September and, if this latest leak is to be believed, it could have one massive advantage over all of its Android rivals including the S8 and Note 8.

A message posted on Twitter by Ice Universe claims to reveal the results of a speed test using the iPhone's new A11 processor.

The reported speeds show the iPhone 8 scored between 4300 and 4600 in single core testing, and between 7000 and 8500 in multi-core tests.

In a similar test posted by BGR, Samsung's S8 scored 1966 in single core tests and 6502 in multi-core tests.

Although the results from Ice Universe can't be verified it could prove worrying for Samsung and many of Apple's other smartphone rivals.

Apple's processors have always performed well against the competition with the iPhone generally outsmarting rival devices but, if the A11 is really this quick, the next generation device could completely eclispe all other smartphones.

Along with this new processor the iPhone 8 is also expected to include a huge AMOLED display which will cover the entire front of the device.

Other rumours suggest a new dual-lens camera will also feature along with ability to .

A recent picture posted on Chinese blog site Weibo, appears to show a small coiled wire which will be placed inside the iPhone 8.

Although it’s not a particularly exciting looking piece of technology it could be bring a huge new feature to the iPhone.

If real, the image may prove that Apple is including wireless charging in its latest and greatest device.

There's currently now word on when Apple will lift the lid on its next smartphone but fans should expect some news of a release date in the coming weeks.

Apple always unveils its next flagship in September and were expecting a similar launch date in 2017.
