Spatial Corp., a major subsidiary of Dassault Systemes of France, and a global leading provider of 3D software development kits (SDKs) for design, manufacturing, and engineering software markets, announced at SIGGRAPH 2017 this week the latest release of Spatial ACIS modeling engine technology.

The latest modeling kernel update makes big advancements with analysis workflows as well as key improvements for additive manufacturing and other 3D solutions benefitting from hybrid modeling capabilities. These enhancements will directly benefit independent software developers by improving their products which incorporate Spatial’s technology.

“When planning our product releases, we work closely with our customers to identify industry trends and deliver technological solutions they need to stay above their competition and achieve faster time to market,” said Linda Lokay, General Manager, Spatial Corp. “Spatial takes our strategic customer partnerships seriously. We focus on delivering market-leading technology that is industrialized, high-performing and feature-rich, ensuring customer success.”

Key Components of the Update

Spatial’s core modeling technologies include its 3D ACIS Modeler, an entire modeling engine (or kernel technology) that drives modeling operations throughout the applications that rely on it. In this latest release, they incorporate new Boolean approaches to solving over 200 challenging industry test cases. There are also new advanced Remove Faces algorithms that solve several new classes of geometry arrangements.

Hybrid modeling capabilities are improved via seamless integration of the CGM Polyhedra technology, supporting a unified set of modeling operations for precise and faceted models with tools that are necessary for accurate model repair.

CGM Polyhedra

Building on the market-leading hybrid modeling capabilities of CGM Polyhedra, this new release extends hybrid modeling capabilities, enabling independent software vendors (ISVs) to deliver even more innovative workflows for end-user efficiency. The decimation operator, a powerful capability to reduce complexity, granularity, and file size, has been enhanced with new options for user-friendly configuration and operation.

This release also enhances the integration with 3D ACIS Modeler, enabling more operations on hybrid bodies, such as Hybrid Stitch (which allows users to directly combine precise and polygonal faces into one body) and Hybrid Move (which allows users to manipulate precise faces in a hybrid body).

HOOPS Visualize

HOOPS Visualize users will see a number of performance improvements, enabling them to instantly conceptualize their 3D data with even faster rendering of static and dynamic datasets. The release also delivers expanded point cloud format support, extending the ability to present data from 3D scanning processes into metrology, reverse engineering, and design optimization workflows. Updated and improved HOOPS Visualize integration with CGM Core Modeler and 3D ACIS Modeler is also included in this release.
