After what feels like a very long time, we're finally in that place where it's not-too-long a wait for the arrival of the iPhone 8 and 7s now – and luckily for us it seems that we're even getting some details earlier, after a new leak appears to confirm an exclusive detail about the latest update.

Yes, ahead of the presumed launch in September, savvy Twitter user Guilherme Rambo (@_inside) has seemingly confirmed the use of FaceID Apple Pay for the first time in iPhone history, thanks to the accidental release of beta software for another Apple product.

Indeed, other developers and software buffs have inferred that references to "pearl.field-detect" and "pearl.pre-arm" in the leaked software for the company's forthcoming HomePod smart speaker are actually references to Apple's in-development facial recognition system known as 'Pearl'.

And, while the use of Pearl in forthcoming Apple products has long been recognised as the Face ID source code one of the surprises is that the Face ID will now apparently be integrated with Apple Pay to create a pioneering FaceID Apple Pay system.

Awesome.

Face ID Apple Pay isn't the only information derived from the leaked codes, as other developers have suggested the leaks also detail the iPhone 8 screen design, which hints at a bevel-less direction for the new model.

And while Apple's latest earnings call certainly suggests we'll see the iPhone 8 drop in September, some analysts have predicted that the all important release date could actually be a lot closer to Christmas instead (via The Independent).

So we guess we'll just have to wait and see the confirmed features of the iPhone 8 whenever it eventually drops.

Sooner rather than later is preferred though, alright Apple?
