L.A. Times writer takes down Iowa’s Apple deal

A Los Angeles Times writer gave a scathing analysis Friday of Iowa's $213 million deal with Apple to build a $1.375 billion data center in Waukee.
Michael Hiltzik argues that Iowa leaders, as in other states, agreed to a lopsided deal because of the "high-tech luster" Apple offers. He points out that the data center will only hire 50 people — adding up to $4.16 million per job, he says.
"The message it sends is that Iowa, like its 'Silicon Prairie' neighbors, is for sale, and cheap," he writes.
