Microsoft are set to launch new Surface devices soon

Microsoft’s Surface boss will be holding a keynote speech in London where he is expected to announce a brand new Surface device.

The Redmond-based tech giant will be holding its annual Future Decoded event in the capital from October 31 to November 1.

Microsoft typically reveal new Surfaces devices in October and sources have told The Verge that at least one new device will be announce.

The tech website added that Panos Panay will be speaking at the event at the upcoming event in the UK.

Microsoft previously promised a Surface Pro LTE, so that is one device that could be announce at the upcoming London event.

Other products that could be reveal are a successor to the Surface Book or the Surface Hub.

Microsoft are also planning on launching Windows laptops from a range of manufacturers that are powered by ARM processors.

Speaking to The Verge, a Microsoft spokesperson said: “We are on track to see Windows 10 on Snapdragon devices become available this year as previously shared.

“Microsoft and Qualcomm continue to work closely with our OEM partners ASUS, HP and Lenovo in bringing Always Connected devices featuring always-on LTE connectivity and great battery life to market.”

The news comes after pictures emerged of the Surface device that Microsoft fans will never be able to buy.

Famous tech tipster Evan Blass published marketing images for the Surface Mini on Twitter, with photos showing the device featuring a red rubber case and a kickstand.

He also published specifications for the now canned Microsoft Surface gadget, which seemed aimed to be a rival to the Apple iPad Mini.

Blass said the Surface was going to be a 7.5-inch device with a 1440 x 1080 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The leaked specs he published also showed the Surface Mini would have been available in black, blue and red colour schemes.

Microsoft had been planning to introduce the Surface Mini tablet alongside its Surface Pro 3 tablet at an event back in May 2014.

However, weeks before Microsoft was set to announce it, CEO Satya Nadella and ex-Nokia boss Stephen Elop cancelled the project.

The Surface Mini was designed to run Windows RT and support the Surface Pen. There was a loop on the kickstand where it would have been stored.

Surface boss Panos Panay previously described the Surface Mini as “like a Moleskine,” and it looks like the tablet was designed to look like a notepad.
