Behold! The Oculus Go - a standalone VR headset that costs $199

It was only a year ago when Oculus announced that they were working on a stand-alone VR headset. Luckily, at this year's Oculus Connect event, the firm finally took the veil off of its product and announced the Oculus Go.

The device looks similar to its first VR headset, the Rift, which was recently given a permanent price cut, but is a bit more modest when it comes to the attachments. Also, this isn't simply just a vessel for your smartphones like Samsung's Gear VR or Zeiss VR One Plus; this is a unit that can work on its own. As far as design goes, the headset is created using a lightweight material which is also soft and breathable. This provides the user with optimal comfort while enjoying VR content.

The headset utilizes the firm's best lenses to date that offer a wider field of view, while also reducing the amount of glare from the unit's high-resolution fast-switch LCD screen. The screen improves visual clarity, while also reducing artifacts. Furthermore, it has integrated spatial audio, with speakers that are built into the headband. If you want to enjoy your device in a more private manner, you can always utilize the integrated 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Oculus Go will be priced at $199 and will be available in early 2018.
