Google is slowly letting people say 'Hey Google' to activate its Assistant on their phones

You'll soon no longer be chained to using "OK Google" to access the Google Assistant on your phone. As first reported by Android Police, Google is slowly giving Android phone owners the ability to activate the Assistant with "Hey Google." Google Homes already respond to both phrases, but phones had yet to gain the functionality.

Users will have to retrain the Assistant once prompted to update, as you can see below:

The update isn't available to everyone just yet, but it seems to have started rolling out last week and is ramping up now. I only wish we could change the name of the Google Assistant entirely.
