Someone threw an iPhone X high above Regent Street and watched as it slammed down on the pavement.

It was of course all a publicity stunt from the creator of London-based startup Mous, who tested out the company’s new iPhone X case in dramatic fashion.

Mous co-founder James Griffith snuck into Apple’s flagship store with the city’s media yesterday morning to get his hands on one of the first iPhone Xs.

He put one of the £999 phones in the case, went back outside, and began throwing it as high as the flag hanging outside the store.

Some of the eager customers waiting in the queue were also treated to a throw.

One man grabbed it and tossed it 25ft into the air, and then another threw it across the floor face down. But it emerged without a scratch.

Griffith said: ‘I was extremely nervous live testing our cases in front of everyone.

‘This was the first time we were able to test the cases we’d developed with the new iPhone X – anything could have gone wrong!’

Mous created its cases with a smart material called AiroShock that contains thousands of micro air pockets.

When someone drops their phone, the air captured within these pockets compresses, dissipating and dampening the energy from the drop.

The greater the drop height, the greater the cushion provided by the material.

The Limitless cases, as they’re called, add 2.2mm of thickness to an iPhone, and are crafted from materials like bamboo, walnut, carbon fibre and leather.
