Here’s A Flashier Way To Invoke Reachability On iPhone X

When Apple removed the Home button from the iPhone X, most of us rejoiced at the idea of an iPhone that finally broke from the norm and gave us something new.

That something was gesture controls that, admittedly, originated around the time of the Palm Pre, but let’s overlook that for a second.

While the removal of the Home button is a good thing, its loss did leave us with no way of invoking Reachability, the feature that brings the top corners of the screen down to allow those with smaller hands to more easily reach them. With no Home button to tap, how would we invoke Reachability?

As has now become clear, a pull down of the gesture bar at the bottom of the iPhone X display just makes sense, and it works well. Where a drag upwards closes apps or invokes the mutltitasking switcher, a drag downwards invokes Reachability. As well as it works, it’s not really all that fun. Thankfully, one Reddit user has shared a much more entertaining way of doing the same thing, and there’s a video to show it, too.

The gist is simple, really – as the user points out, simply drag upwards on the gesture bar as if closing the app and then as the animation is in full flight, flick the bar back down to the bottom of the screen. Not only are you launched right into Reachability, but the whole thing looks awesome thanks to the way the animations blend into each other. Check out the video and you’ll see just what we mean.

Many of us may not make much use of Reachability, but this gesture might just have us flicking that gesture bar around just for fun!
