YouTube's cord-cutting solution is reaching more platforms as YouTube TV is now officially available on Apple TV devices.

YouTube TV launched last spring as a streaming live TV service, but up until now, it was absent on two major platforms: Apple TV and Roku. So far, it was only available on a limited selection of smart TVs, Android TV, Chromecast, and Xbox One.

YouTube announced back in December that it needed more time for the Roku and Apple TV apps, delaying the launch until the first quarter of 2018. The company has now managed to make good on its promise. It first announced that YouTube TV was available on select Roku models, and now it revealed that the Apple TV app is live as well.

YouTube TV: What You Get

YouTube TV is a cord-cutting solution that allows customers to ditch cable providers for a more convenient streaming live TV service priced at $35 per month. The service aims to compete with similar offerings such as AT&T DirecTV Now, Hulu with Live TV, Sling TV, and PlayStation Vue, all of which have been available for a while on select Apple TV models.

At $35 per month, YouTube TV offers access to more than 40 channels with movies, TV shows, live sports, and news including CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, ESPN, and more. The subscription service also comes with unlimited DVR storage space, as well as content from the YouTube Red service that normally costs $9.99 per month.

YouTube TV subscribers can also search for TV shows and other content, rather than browsing until they find what they want. The launch comes just in time for Super Bowl LII, which takes place on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Some channels, meanwhile, are available as purchasable add-ons. Users can also get Showtime, but it will cost extra on top of the $35 monthly subscription for YouTube TV.

YouTube TV App Hits Apple TV

The YouTube TV app is now live and ready to download from the App Store on the Apple TV. A prominent banner will herald its arrival, and the app is easy to install and set up. Users can leave the service anytime they want, as no commitment is required.

It's worth pointing out, however, that customers can't sign up for the TV app just yet. This means that those looking to sign up for the service will have to do it in the YouTube TV mobile app or elsewhere.

With the addition of Apple TV and Roku among supported platforms, YouTube TV is now available on all major devices. From now on, Google could focus more on adding more partners and expand its offer with more channels.
