Want Old Snapchat Version Back On iOS, Android? Here’s How To Do It

So then, do you want old Snapchat version update reversal on iOS or Android? Here’s what you need to do.

Are you literally flabbergasted by the new Snapchat user-interface which uses algorithmic processes to show you content that it believes you will be interested in? Are you one of the frustrated one million+ individuals who signed a petition to try and force Snap Inc. to revert back to the old experience? Well, this post could be for you.

We’re going to show you how to revert from Snapchat’s divisive update to the original design and user experience on an Android and iOS device, as long as the latter is jailbroken. It’s worth remembering that each process comes with limitations and will leave you running a version of Snapchat which will never benefit from feature improvements or updates.

iOS (Jailbroken + Cydia)

Step 1: Launch Cydia on your device and head into the ‘Sources’ section which allows you to add a new source. We are basically going to add the CokePokes’ repository in order to download a specific tweak. Add the following source: http://cokepokes.github.io/

Step 2: Use the Search functionality in Cydia to find the “snapdecent” tweak. Once it’s located, download and install the tweak to the jailbroken device. Restart the iPhone if prompted.

Voila! That’s all that is needed to get the old Snapchat back on a jailbroken iOS device.

If you are jailbroken using the latest Electra iOS 11 jailbreak but don’t have Cydia yet, simply check out our guide here.

Android

Step 1: First and foremost, make sure that you delete the current version of Snapchat from your Android device. Remove it entirely and say goodbye to that new UI.

Step 2: You’re going to need to get your hands on a version of Snapchat which contains the older user-interface. You can grab the Snapchat 10.22.7.0 APK from here.

Step 3: Sideload the APK onto the Android device in question. This is basically the process of invoking an installation of an APK file outside of the Play Store. If you haven’t already allowed your device to install apps from unknown sources, then you will more than likely be asked to confirm that you want to proceed.

Step 4: Once installed, you can now head into the Play Store, navigate to the Snapchat listing, and disable the automatic updates associated with that app. This basically means that no new version will be updated over the top of what you already have installed.
