Google Is Increasing Security at All Offices Worldwide

Following the shooting at YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno, Google will make all its offices more secure.

On Tuesday, April 3, Nasim Najafi Aghdam approached YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno, California and started shooting. She ended up injuring three people, with a fourth suffering a twisted ankle sustained during what must have been a situation full of panic. Aghdam was found dead by local police with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Her actions look to be a response to YouTube filtering her videos and therefore impacting her income. She apparently hated the company and decided to commit this horrific act.

Google is now dealing with the fallout, and what must be some very worried and scared employees. In response, the company is taking action to ensure everyone is safe going forward. Using the Google Communications Twitter account, the YouTube Team posted this statement, which we included below:

Clearly security is going to get a major overhaul at all of YouTube's locations, but probably all offices where Alphabet and Google have a presence. As a technology company, Google certainly has the know-how and the funds to implement a highly-secure entry and exit system with minimal impact on day-to-day activity.

Just as importantly, employees are being offered support through wellness services. Those few who were injured will need support long after their physical injuries are healed, but other employees will have witnessed what happened, helped tend to the wounded, and will certainly know the people who were injured.
