Signage hints Apple is closing the world’s last Apple Watch pop-up store located within the Isetan Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo on Sunday, May 13th.
Following the launch of the Apple Watch in 2015 three boutique-style Apple Watch pop-up stores in London, France and Tokyo. – Apple closed their store inside London’s high-end department store, Selfridges in January 2017, and shortly after announced the closure of their pop-up in Galeries Lafayette in France later that same month.
When Apple originally lunched the Apple Watch it was heavily marketed as a fashion accessory, with it often appearing in fashion magazines and on the wrists of the rich and famous, however, in recent years Apple appears to have changed their focus with the wearable, marketing it more as a health and fitness companion. – While unconfirmed, it’s likely the target customer shift has meant Apple no longer needs their dedicated boutiques.
