TiVo is ready to launch integration with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. Today the company announced that its series 4 (Premiere), 5 (Roamio), and 6 (Bolt) DVR boxes are receiving an update that will let customers instruct an Alexa-enabled device in their living room to perform core functions like changing channels, launching a streaming app, skipping commercials, and more through voice commands. Alexa can also control playback and pause, fast forward, rewind, or jump back eight seconds in the content you’re viewing. The rollout should be complete by June 1st.

But from the sounds of it, you can’t search for content, schedule recordings, or set up a OnePass season recording for TV shows by using Alexa. TiVo’s own Vox remote is still the way to go if you want the most flexibility with voice control.

At the very least, you don’t have to awkwardly mention TiVo as part of your command when talking to Alexa. TiVo first revealed it was working to implement support for both Alexa and Google Assistant back at CES in January.
