With its upcoming line up of CPUs such as AMD EPYC based on the 7 nm process node, AMD sees a lot of "incredible opportunities".

AMD Ryzen took the CPU market by storm and has been giving Intel a run for its money due to its competitive prices and performance. Now, with its upcoming line up of CPUs such as AMD EPYC based on the 7 nm process node, AMD sees a lot of “incredible opportunities” in the future in which it might also give a tough competition to Nvidia.

During AMD’s earning call for the 2nd quarter, AMD CEO, Lisa Su talked about the upcoming 7 nm process node-based CPU lineup and its 7nm- AMD EPYC processors.

According to the CEO, AMD has started sampling its 7 nm CPUs and GPUs with select customers in the second quarter of its fiscal year and these 7 nm AMD chips will be in the market by the end of 2018.

Not only that, AMD has also started to sample its 7nm EPYC server CPU codenamed “Rome” with its select partners and will be available in 2019 and 7 nm AMD client CPU will be available sometime after that.

Lisa added that she believes that AMD has “a very competitive position in 2019”.

She also added that with the help of its EPYC CPUs, AMD will be able to reach mid-single digits in the server market by the end of this year.

She added that sales and shipment for AMD EPYC CPUs have grown over 50 percent and the company sees “enhanced interest” in the upcoming EPYC “Rome” following the success of EPYC “Naples”.

Not only that, the company intends to increase the adoption of AMD EPYC CPUs in the high-performance computing and virtualized enterprise environment sectors of the market.

Speaking of the AMD, it is yet to reveal its 32-Core Ryzen Threadripper 2990X, however, overclocker Der8auer simulated 32-core Threadripper 2990X using overclocked AMD EPYC 7601.

Also, AMD has reportedly partnered up with Ferrari for the reveal event of 2nd-gen Ryzen Threadripper 2990X and will be hosting the event at Maranello in Northern Italy.

As for the specs for 32-Core Ryzen Threadripper 2990X, it will feature 3 GHz base clock and a boost clock of 4 GHz along with 64MB L3 Cache and XFR support.
