Edge for iOS gets visual search and other features from the beta

A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft added a number of new features to Edge on iOS devices, but at the time they were exclusive to those enrolled in the beta program. Now, a new update is rolling out to general users including all of the features added to the beta earlier. As a reminder, here's the changelog for that update:

  • Intelligent visual search gives you a cool new way to find contact info, identify landmarks, or find similar images based on a photo

  • Support paste and go/search in the address bar

  • Choose from more default search engine options

  • Performance improvements

Microsoft officially announced the Bing-powered intelligent visual search back in June, and it's already been implemented in Edge and the Microsoft Launcher for Android as well, so the iOS app is mostly catching up in that regard. Support for "paste and go" in the search bar is exclusive to Apple devices for now, however.

Those using work or school accounts with their browser have some additional good news too, as Timeline support has been implemented among other improvements that are already available for Android:

  • See your organization's home page

  • Securely access intranet websites from home

  • See mobile browser activity on your PC's timeline

If you haven't already, you can download Microsoft Edge for iOS through the App Store here. The Android version can be downloaded from the Play Store.
