This wireless charger is pocket size: 2.4 by 2.4 by 1.7 inches at its thickest, and just a few ounces. The top is angled so your iPhone is held up at a slight angle, handy when powering up your iPhone while working at your computer.

Just be careful when setting it out. Top and bottom are nearly identical, and the charger can’t transfer power if it’s upside down.A white LED inside glows when power is being transferred. If it’s not on, check to be sure the iPhone is centered and the charger is right side up.

The Charge Stream Pad Mini comes only in basic black and is all plastic. Still, it looks reasonably professional, and won’t be out of place in a business meeting.

On the back of the charger sits a micro-USB port. mophie includes a 4.9 foot (1.5m) cable to plug into this, giving you a decent range from the nearest plug.

The more extensive, and expensive, Charge Stream Travel Kit includes the charger and cable, and adds a 2.4A Wall Adapter and a 2.4A Car Adapter. All of this fits into a handy carrying pouch that has pockets for all the bits. Again, all these are black.

mophie Charge Stream Travel Kit performance

The best way to test an iPhone charger is to charge an iPhone. (Duh.) We started with an iPhone X whose battery was at 8 percent. Just 15 minutes after we put it on mophie’s charger, it’s at 15 percent, and 30 minutes after starting the battery level is 21 percent. So half an hour of charging resulted in a 13 percent increase in the battery.

Further tests over the next couple of hours found that, on average, about two minutes of charging resulted in close to a 1 percent increase. There were no problems working through a leather case.

At the end of our tests, we charged the iPhone X for 210 minutes, and increased the battery by 86 percent. That’s below the 2/1 ration we mentioned earlier because iPhones charge much more slowly as they approach 100 percent. This is designed to prevent overcharging the battery.

mophie Charge Stream Travel Kit conclusion

Anyone who occasionally works in a hotel room or a remote office can see the advantages of traveling with a wireless charger. The basic mophie Charge Stream Pad Mini takes care of this job.

Those who are frequently on the road and sometimes find themselves working in the car or truck can benefit from the mophie Charge Stream Travel Kit with some extra gear for real road warriors.
