You don’t have to wait to get the new features of iOS 12. You could install a pre-release version and start tinkering with Siri Shortcuts or Memoji now.

Apple just introduced iOS 12 public beta 4, hopefully the most stable version yet. There are both iPhone and iPad iterations.

iOS 12 public beta 4 available to everyone

It’s not necessary to be a developer or pay anything to download this early version. Anyone who wants to participate in the Apple Beta Software Program can sign up today. It’s free to all who are willing to take the risk of using software on their iPhone and iPad that’s known to contain bugs.

Developers have access to a more recent version, iOS 12 beta 5. This will be available to the public when Apple is sure it didn’t accidentally introduce any new significant bugs. The public beta just introduced was released to developers two weeks ago.

It’s expected to be faster. And with Siri Shortcuts, an iPhone or iPad can perform all kinds of complex actions when you utter simple commands. iOS 12 also includes Memoji, personalized and animated versions of emoji.

The end of beta testing and the full release is expected to happen in September, alongside the introduction of the 2018 iPhone models.
