Videos Show Off What Leakers Say Are Next-Gen iPhones

Apple is expected to unveil three new iPhones this September, and newly leaked videos might give us an idea of what they will look like.

TigerMobiles, in collaboration with serial tech leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka @onleaks on Twitter), have posted two new videos showing off dummy models of the rumored 6.1- and 6.5-inch iPhones Apple is said to be readying. As 9to5Mac points out, the devices in these videos are purportedly based on leaked schematic designs from Apple's supply chain. Check them out below.

Rumors indicate that Apple is planning to release two smartphones this year with pricey OLED screens like the iPhone X ($999.00 at Verizon) measuring 5.8 and 6.5 inches, and an entry-level LCD model measuring 6.1 inches. 9to5Mac, citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, last month reported that the 6.5-inch premium OLED iPhone will come in black, white, and a new gold tone, while the more affordable 6.1-inch LCD model will be available in a bevy of shades: gray, white, blue, red, and orange.

If Apple wants to be among the world's top two smartphone makers, these new iPhones better be good.

Research firms IDC and Strategy Analytics this week reported that the Cupertino tech giant lost its second-place spot in the global smartphone market to China's Huawei during the second quarter of 2018.

"The arrival of Huawei in the second position marks the first quarter since [the second quarter of 2010] where Apple has not been the number one or two smartphone company in terms of market share," IDC noted.

Samsung came in first during the period with 20.4 percent global market share, followed by Huawei with 15.5 percent, and Apple with 11.8 percent, Strategy Analytics said. China's Xiaomi and Oppo came in fourth and fifth with 9.1 percent and 8.6 percent market share, respectively.

"Apple continues to grow in smartphones, but at a much slower pace than key Chinese rivals such as Huawei and Xiaomi," Strategy Analytics Director Woody Oh said in a statement. "Apple will need to innovate new designs for the iPhone if it wants to grow future volumes, perhaps by adding new features such as dual SIM cards or foldable screens."
