6.5- and 6.1-inch 2018 iPhone models
We now have a fairly firm idea of when the 6.5-inch iPhone will debut. The 6.1-inch model isn't expected until months later, though.

We already know quite a bit about the next-generation iPhones, and one of the remaining questions may have just been answered: when they’ll go on sale.

A German wireless phone provider has leaked part what we want to know: the date preorders will begin. The most likely release date can be extrapolated from that.

An unnamed European carrier says it will start taking orders for Apple’s next smartphones on September 14, according to German-based Macerkopf.

If this report is correct, then the date the three new iPhone models will be announced, and when two of them will be released, can be determined based on Apple’s previous habits.

2018 iPhone release date

Last year, the new iPhone models were announced on Tuesday, September 12. Preorders started on Friday, Sept. 15, and the release date was seven days later, on Sept. 22.

With that in mind, and a leaked preorder date of Friday, Sept. 14, then the announcement could be Tuesday, Sept. 11. Given that day’s history, though, Apple could wait until Sept. 12.

A week after preorders are expected to start is Friday, September 21, making that the most likely 2018 iPhone release date.

Two out of the three next month

If true, then this will be the launch date for the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone, and the 5.8-inch OLED model too. The larger device will take the place of the iPhone 8 Plus, while the smaller is a speed-bumped version of the iPhone X.

However, two separate unconfirmed reports indicates that the rumored 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD won’t be available until November. Production problems on the new type of screen are reportedly delaying the release.
