Select text in many iOS apps, and the contextual menu that appears includes the option Look Up. Tap it, and you’ll get dictionary definitions and much more.
However, aptly-named Macworld reader Mac would prefer just the dictionary definitions and nothing else. That’s possible! Go to Settings > Siri & Suggestions and swipe down to Siri Suggestions section. Turn Suggestions In Look Up off, and you’ll only get dictionary definitions when available.
If you want to add or modify which dictionaries are consulted, use Settings > General > Dictionary.
