5 best iOS games to play on a plane
Some of you may absolutely leap at the chance to climb onboard an aeroplane. Some of you may not be too thrilled at the idea of flying, but will get on with it without much fuss. Some of you may be paralysed with fear, like me, from the moment you step in the airport.
However you handle flying, this is a handful of games you really shouldn't be without. I mean, it's not the end of the world if you don't have them, but they're good fun and a good distraction for those less tolerable of air travel – trust me.
Sneak Ops - download on iOS
Though it's only a couple of weeks old, Sneak Ops is a surprisingly good stealth game and free to play, too!
In a very Metal Gear-like fashion you need to sneak through short levels, sneaking past guards, lasers, noisy floors, and more. Sure, you can knock some guards out, but they're only down for a little bit and sometimes it's just not worth the trouble.
This one's all about timing and concentration, which is kind-of perfect when you've got nothing else to do when flying and you can play it offline. You can also upgrade the game to premium to get rid of adverts and the like if you fancy, so definitely give it a go.
Terraria - download on iOS(£4.99/$4.99)
Sometimes, especially on longer flights, you'll want something to immerse yourself into that you can build on and really make headway with. You could throw the likes of Minecraft in here as well, but Terraria is a perfect game to keep you entertained for hours on end and it's just so charming.
In this sandbox adventure the world is your playground. You can explore, build communities, fight monsters and bosses, keep pets, craft a lot of stuff to aid you in your tasks, and that's only scratching the surface.
Whether you've got fidgety kids or you, yourself, are a fidgety and nervous adult, Terraria will provide you with some wonderful, time-wasting distractions.

Shock horror, The Room series made its way into this list. Well, yeah, of course it did. It's one of the best puzzlers on the market and it sucked me right in when I first played it.
I guess what it boils down to is if you want to think on your plane journey. If you don't mind a little bit of challenge, this will keep you well entertained. Discover a deep, dark story behind a series of well-thought-out puzzles.
You'll need to dig in deep, explore all of your options, and maybe ask the person next to you to help you out if you get stuck. See? Fun and sociable.
Kingdom Rush - download on iOS
Tower defence games are fantastic time-wasters and they make you feel really, really good when you play them. Kingdom Rush remains one of the best ones on the market, and it's free-to-play too.
Whether you're fighting across mountains, forests, or wastelands, you'll have to put your best foot forward and use your brain to catch your enemies with their trousers down. There are plenty of baddies to kill, tons of enemy varieties, lots of tower upgrades and abilities, some seriously big boss fights, and much, much more.

If you don't like narrative adventures you probably won't be up for the Sorcery series, but I wouldn't rule it out just yet. Sorcery isn't just a text-based game, it's an RPG adventure with a hell of a lot of charisma, memorable characters, and addictive gameplay.
Better still, it's like reading a book you can interact with. You guys still read books when travelling, right? No? Just me?
You've got thousands of choices to make which will legitimately affect the way your journey pans out, a gorgeous 3D map to explore with hundreds of beautiful hand-drawn illustrations, and an intense combat system that may take you a few tries to get the hang of. Hours can pass by in the blink of an eye when immersed in this rich, fantastical world, so it's well worth adding to your list.
