The VLC media player app for iOS can now also transmit videos straight from Apple devices to larger screens using Google's Chromecast streaming technology, according to the update log of the free play-it-all tool.

The latest version (3.1.0) of VLC for Mobile also allows you to watch 360-degree videos and adjust the viewing angle by moving your smartphone or tablet around.

The update also adds other smaller improvements like enhanced Mpeg4 and HEVC video decoding. The VLC for Mobile app is available free of charge from the App Store. – dpa
