iOS 12 Beta Users Afflicted With Constant Update Reminder Popup

iOS 12 Beta Users Afflicted With Constant Update Reminder Popup

iPhone and iPad users running the current iOS 12 beta on their devices are seeing a constant popup that tells them an iOS 12 update is available, even though one is not available.

Users see the following message: “A new iOS update is now available. Please update from the iOS 12 beta.” This occurs even though the device already has the latest version of iOS 12 installed, and no update is available.

Beta testers says they have been seeing the popup since they installed the most recent iOS 12 beta, released on August 27. Some report the popups have been appearing more frequently in the last day or so.

We here at MacTrast are seeing the popup on the iPhone we have the latest iOS 12 installed on. The popup appears when the device is unlocked, and must be manually dismissed before the device is usable.

As mentioned by MacRumors, developer Guilherme Rambo suggests that an error in the latest update causes the iOS beta to think that its expiration date is imminent, leading to the popup problem. He tweeted about it on Thursday.

So far, Apple hasn’t commented on the matter. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
