Despite relentless rumors, Google’s director of engineering for Wear OS, Miles Barr, confirmed to Tom’s Guide earlier today that it won’t be launching its own smartwatch this year.

To think of a one-size-fits-all watch, I don’t think we’re there yet, Barr said. Our focus is on our partners for now.

After reaching out to Google, a PR representative confirmed to the tech blog that the company will not be releasing a watch of its own this year and instead, the technology giant will focus on improving Wear OS and working with its partners.

At the IFA tradeshow happening this week in Berlin, Germany, several Google partners are showcasing their Wear OS smartwatches including Casio, Diesel, Samsung, and Skagen.
