The recent spate of Apple Store robberies in California is continuing, as thieves burgled an Apple Store in Burlingame on Sunday morning.
As with the other recent robberies, the incident took place when a group of people entered the store and started snatching items from the display tables. They then fled the scene in a waiting getaway vehicle.

The theft mirrors a large number of similar instances, many of these centered around California.
Last week, Apple Stores in Emeryville and Santa Rosa were hit in similar robberies. Prior to this, an Apple Store in Corte Madera in Marin County was robbed the week before. Other robberies have taken place in Roseville and Fresno.
In most instances, the thieves have successfully escaped following the robberies. This hasn’t been true in all cases, however. During one attempted August robbery at the Apple Store at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks, California, customers performed a citizen’s arrest on two would-be thieves. A third was also later arrested.
As we’ve written before, Apple uses special versions of its software for all demo devices which render them useless if stolen from a store. Given that these robberies keep happening, however, clearly the thieves have some way of making money from them: likely by selling them for parts.
