iPhone Xs: Everything we know
Apple will soon be taking to the stage of the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park to host its annual fall iPhone event. As we inch closer to the official reveal of Apple’s next-generation iPhone line, here’s everything we know about the forthcoming iPhone Xs.
iPhone Xs – pronounced iPhone Ten S – will largely be an upgrade to the current iPhone X model, with Apple introducing a new 6.5-inch “plus” model and an all new golden finish first seen earlier in the year within leaked images by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
Although the company is widely expected to introduce two screen-sizes of the iPhone Xs (5.8-inch and 6.5-inch, both of which will use OLED displays), Apple is said to be naming both of them the iPhone Xs rather than iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Plus, taking an iPad-like approach to the naming of the two devices. Update: Apple to name larger iPhone Xs the “iPhone Xs Max”.
Apple is expected to equip both iPhone Xs models with a new A12 Apple designed processor for performance enhancements and battery efficiency. Reports have suggested Apple’s larger 6.5-inch iPhone Xs model could see up-to 25 percent more battery capacity than the current iPhone X model.
Pricing for the iPhone Xs is still unconfirmed, reports have suggested Apple will sell the 5.8-inch iPhone XS for $800 to $900 and the 6.5-inch iPhone Xs for $900 to $1,000. Alongside the new gold finish, the iPhone Xs is also expected to be available in silver and space gray.
Pre-orders for the devices will likely begin days after the main “Gather round” event on September 12th, with September 14th looking to be the most likely date that pre-orders will begin. As with all of Apple’s “S” upgrades to the iPhone, despite the introduction of new features, the iPhone Xs isn’t expected to be a huge upgrade to the current iPhone X model, but it will certainly be interesting to see officially what Apple has up their sleeve.
