We know almost all of the specifications of the 2018 iPhones that are being announced this week, but the names remain something of a mystery. A mystery that might have been solved thanks to a leak from the wireless service provider China Mobile.

This confirms two of the product names from previous rumors, but the third comes out of left field.

An image supposedly taken during  an internal presentation at China Mobile shows that the 5.8-inch version will be called the iPhone XS, as has been widely expected.

Also shown is the name of the 6.5-inch version: iPhone XS Plus. That goes against a recent rumor that the name would be iPhone Xs Max instead.

And most importantly, the China Mobile presentation indicates that the 6.1-inch model will be dubbed the iPhone XC. That’s the first time we’ve heard that name.

It’s reminiscent of the iPhone 5C, a device that came in a polycarbonate casing (rather than glass or aluminum) and was released in a wide variety of colors. We’ve already heard that this 6.1-inch model will be available in a range of color options.

And the iPhone XC price is…

The China Mobile leak lists the price for the iPhone XS Plus at 8388 yuan, which is exactly what the carrier charges for the iPhone X. This suggests that the U.S. price for the XS Plus will be the same as the iPhone X: $999. Especially as a recent report also indicated that the European cost for the upcoming 6.5-inch OLED model will be the same as the iPhone X.

The iPhone XC will be 5888 yuan, the same price the iPhone 8 sells for. As before, this suggests that the U.S. price for this model will be the same as the iPhone 8: $699. Again, info leaking from Europe says the same.

The 5.8-inch OLED iPhone XS  will supposedly be 7388 yuan. This is not the Chinese cost of the iPhone 8 Plus. Comparing the U.S. and Chinese costs of the other two models with the Chinese price for the iPhone XS suggests it will sell for $875 in the U.S.

Whatever their names and prices, all three of the 2018 iPhone models are expected to be announced on Wednesday, along with two significantly-redesigned iPad Pro tablets, and Apple Watch Series 4.
