AMD is giving Intel a run for its money with its 2nd-gen Ryzen CPUs and now AMD is reportedly preparing to launch its 2nd-gen Raven Ridge APUs by the end of 2018.

The report comes from HKEPC news, who noted that AMD has officially confirmed at the Hot Chips 30 that the 2nd-gen Raven Ridge APUs will launch by the end of 2018 and will be based on the 12 nm process.

Those who are expecting the 7nm processors from AMD will have to wait till next year as AMD will be releasing its Ryzen 3000 CPUs with Zen 2 architecture. Furthermore, if I wasn’t clear enough then Ryzen 3000 CPUs will be based on the 7 nm process.

These 2nd-gen Raven Ridge APUs will reportedly be available for laptops and will be available under the model Ryzen 7 2800H.

The Ryzen 7 2800H is expected to feature 4 cores, 8 threads, 3.35 GHz base clock, 3.8GHz boost clock, 4 MB L3 cache with Vega 11 integrated graphics processor.

And Ryzen 7 2800H will not be the only one to launch later this year as part of 2nd-gen Raven Ridge APUs as Ryzen 5 2600H will also be part of the APUs launching in late 2018.

The Ryzen 5 2600H is expected to feature 4 cores with 3.25 GHz base clock and 3.6GHz of boost clock along with Vega 8 integrated graphics.

Speaking of AMD processors, the company has officially announced Ryzen 3 2300X And Ryzen 5 2500X as part of the 2nd-gen Ryzen family. However, these CPUs are OEM exclusive and won’t be available at retail.

Acer’s “NITRO 50 N50 – 100 – UR 11” desktop system will the first system to feature Ryzen 3 2300X And Ryzen 5 2500X. These processors are also based on the 12 nm process node and support DDR4-2933 RAM.

Not only that, another report has been making rounds on the internet suggesting that AMD will be bringing Ryzen 2800X with 10 cores and will be a direct competitor to Intel’s Core i9 CPUs.
