AMD EPYC Rome 7nm 64 Core Processor Scored 12,500 Points In Cinebench test

From what we can see the AMD EPYC Rome CPU was able to score 12,500 points in Cinebench which is very impressive indeed. Here is what you need to know.

AMD EPYC Rome CPUs are going to replace the current servers CPUs that AMD has to offer and the upcoming chips are going to be based on the 7nm process and will offer up to 64 cores. That is a big step up as compared to the current SKUs that are on the market and here we have an alleged leak of the performance that the upcoming chip is going to offer.

From what we can see the AMD EPYC Rome CPU was able to score 12,500 points in Cinebench which is very impressive indeed. To compare, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX scored about 5,500 points in the same test and that CPU comes with 32 cores and 64 threads. This is more than double that, which might indicate the performance gains that can be achieved when moving from the 12nm process to the 7nm process.

AMD EPYC Rome

While AMD has a very small share of the server market right now, it is increasing slowly and these upcoming AMD EPYC Rome CPUs should build some pressure on Intel. Analysts feel very strongly about the upcoming chips and they could be right. Mark Lipacis from Jefferies maintained a buy rating on AMD, with a price target of $30. The following is what he had to say regarding the matter:

We raise our 2019 EPS est and our price target following our meeting with management at our annual Chicago Summit. We have higher conviction that in 2H19, AMD will ship a server MPU with higher transistor density than INTC for the first time in recent history, if not ever. We see this as a foundational shift in competitive dynamics.
