Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709), and the number of improvements is huge.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4457136 comes with Internet Explorer refinements and fixes a bug that previously caused security and certificate dialogs to display prompts in the background instead of the foreground.

Even though Internet Explorer no longer receives new features, it’s still being supported, and despite Microsoft pushing Edge as the preferred browser, there are lots of organizations out there using it because of compatibility reasons.

Microsoft Narrator is also getting new improvements with this cumulative update, and Microsoft says it has finally fixed a problem preventing the app from access the contents of Windows Security dialogs displayed by a low integrity level process.

Furthermore, if your organization relies on appx packages, there’s good news. The software giant explains that it has resolved a problem that blocked the installation of encrypted packages on Windows 10.

No known bugs

There are also fixes for the Task Scheduler and Microsoft says it has resolved all of them with this new cumulative update.

“Addresses an issue that prevents the running of subsequent actions in a task. This issue occurs when you create multiple actions in a task using Task Scheduler and the task is scheduled under the Stop the existing instance rule,” the changelog reveals before adding the following:

“Addresses an issue with a task that has a repetition setting. The task fails to be scheduled and doesn't start after disabling and re-enabling the task. The Next Run Time in Task Scheduler displays the correct time, but the task doesn't start at that time.”

With the release of cumulative update KB4457136, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update OS build is increased to 16299.697.

There are no known bugs in this cumulative update, and this means that it should install correctly on all systems.
