AMD Polaris 30 Could Be Announced Next Week, Similar To RX 580 And 570

The AMD Polaris 30 architecture is not something revolutionary but a refinement of AMD Polaris 20. Here is what you need to know.

AMD Polaris 30 has been rumored for a while now and now reports suggest that AIB partners mentioned that these cards will be announced next week. If that is indeed the case then you can expect these graphics cards to release in early November.

The AMD Polaris 30 architecture is not something revolutionary but a refinement of AMD Polaris 20. This means that the specs of the upcoming cards will be similar to what we have on the market right now. It also means that you can expect to see higher efficiency and better clock speeds.

AMD Polaris 30 To Replace RX 500 Series

The AMD Polaris 30 based cards that will replace the RX 580 and 570 will come with 2304 and 2048 Cores respectively. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance these cards will offer. Not to mention how they will compare with the first generation RX 480 and 470.

The naming scheme has not been confirmed yet. From what we have heard the success of the RX 570 is going to release first and then we will get the rest of the graphics card. This is an interesting development as these graphics cards will be based on the 12nm process. Keeping in mind the specifications, the pricing of these cards should be similar to the RX 500 series as well.

If these are releasing soon then you can expect the RX 500 series cards to become cheaper and the same is the case for the RX 400 series GPUs, provided that you can find one. You might think, why is AMD releasing these cards in the first place? And why start with the RX 570? Those are valid questions.

The simple answer is that AMD does not have a high-end graphics card right now and Nvidia has yet to release a mainstream graphics card. This gives AMD a chance to gain some ground in the mainstream segment. The RX 570 offers great value for money and if the upcoming AMD Polaris 30 replacement could add to that then it could sell well. At least until the GTX 2060 is released.

Let us know what you think about AMD Polaris 30 cards and whether or not you are interested in getting one of these graphics cards.
