If you’re the kind of person who uses a little creativity when organizing the apps on your iPhone or iPad—by icon color, for example—it might be time to take your device’s look to the next level. Sure, you can name your folders something descriptive and/or witty, like “yellow” instead of the category of the apps found within it, but here’s a trick you can use to ditch folder names entirely.
You might think this sounds a little “meh” at first, but go ahead and try to delete a folder’s name yourself. Tap on an app folder, long-press on its name until you see a gray box behind it, tap on the name, delete everything, and tap on “done.” Boom. The name reappears. The same thing happens if you simply enter a blank “space” for a folder’s name. Apple has caught on to all your little tricks—all except one.
To blank out your iPhone or iPad’s folder names, you’re going to want to copy this blank space instead—the Unicode character of a Braille blank space instead of a “normal” blank space:

If that doesn’t work, because Kinja can be fussy, you can also copy and paste the same blank space from GadgetHacks.com, where we first found this trick. However you copy the blank space, be sure to paste it into a Notes document for easier access (and border it with a pair of markers, like [] or , so you remember what it is).
Now, go back to the folder you want to rename and tap your way through until you’ve deleted its original name. Paste in your “blank” space, tap done, and you should have a empty folder name—or so it appears.
