Just when I thought I've seen it all.

Caviar, the Russian luxury case company that brought us the Putin phone, has taken iPhone cases to the next level by launching a case that essentially turns the back of the iPhone XS or the XS Max into a ticking, mechanical watch.

The Grand Complications Skeleton, as it's called, is a heavily ornamented case that has a mechanical watch in the middle, complete with a winding crown that slightly protrudes from the side of the phone.

Obviously, this is an extremely blingy case that will appeal to a certain type of audience with deep pockets and a love for things that scream "money." But it doesn't appear to be just some shiny crap slapped on the back of an iPhone. The skeletonized movement -- in the world of wrist watches, "skeletonized" means the inner parts of the watch are visible -- is a modified ETA Unitas 6498-1, a well known watch movement that's used by numerous high-end brands. In other words, that watch on the back of the case is the real deal by luxury watch standards.

This, of course, does not make this case any less crazy -- do you really need a watch on the back of your phone? -- but that's sort of what Caviar appears to be going for.

The Grand Complications Skeleton is sold together with an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max and can be had in Pink Gold ($6,490), Titanium ($6,320) and Black & Gold ($7,160) flavors -- though the price differs depending on storage options and size. Buyers also get a luxury wooden case to cary the whole thing around.
