“Welcome Home,” a television commercial for the Apple HomePod directed by Spike Jonze, welcomed another slew of advertising awards today.
Apple took home two first-place honors in the prestigious shots Awards. It won three other first-place shots for Best Director (Jonze), Editing house of the Year (Final Cut of Los Angeles) and Production Company of the Year (MJZ of Los Angeles).
It also won a Silver award, just missed the top prize, for Commercial of the Year (up to and including 60 seconds).
Apple is considered to have the most dedicated brand community in the world. Its advertising and marketing campaigns facilitate an emotional connection that keeps fans devoted, experts say.
shots is global news source for advertising creatives that launched in 1990. This is the seventh-annual awards presentation.
The two awards with Apple’s name, both for “Welcome Home,” were for Best Use of Music and Online Commercial of the Year – Over Two Minutes.
The commercial stars FKA Twigs, whose character is transformed by music playing on her HomePod after a long day at the office. It features the song “’Til It’s Over,” by Anderson Paak.
A five-minute version of “Welcome Home” won Grand Prix in the Cannes Entertainment awards in June. It also won a top prize from the Association of Independent Commercial Producers.
