TAIPEI -- Intel's exclusive deal to provide modem chips for new iPhones has strained its ability to supply such longtime personal computer partners as Taiwan's Acer and Asustek Computer, which face shortages of a key component heading into the year-end shopping season, industry sources said.
Intel's focus on Apple orders will weigh on the PC market just as it starts to show signs of recovery.
