SANTA MONICA, Calif.--()--Choose a host, pick a mob and win cash.

That’s the premise of ‘TriviaMob’, a new live game show from Culture Genesis, a Los Angeles-based digital studio focused on multicultural audiences. Actor Melvin Gregg (Netflix’s American Vandal and High Flying Bird) has been tapped as co-host and creative director, joined by a rotation of hosts including actress and former Miss USA contestant Brittany Lucio; DJ Damage, co-host of Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ flagship show, REVOLT Live; social media personality Jessica Flores; and TV host and comedic actress Dariany Santana. TriviaMob streams weekly on Sundays and is a welcome entry to a category dominated by other offerings that often lack appeal to diverse gamers.

Co-founded by Cedric Rogers, an entrepreneur and marketer who previously spent over a decade at Apple, most recently in business development and developer relations for mobile apps; and Shaun Newsum, a serial entrepreneur and video streaming expert whose past experience includes MLB Advanced Media and VEVO -- Culture Genesis is currently one of five startups selected to participate in the betaworks livecamp, an 11-week in-residence program focused on the intersection of live streaming and audience participation.

“We’re building software for an urban, multicultural audience that continues to lead and influence culture -- not just in the U.S. but around the world,” said Rogers. “We see this influence growing in Hollywood but it’s not reflected in Silicon Valley. We want to accelerate this shift.”

The launch of TriviaMob sits at the intersection of two trends across culture and tech: Seventy-three percent of African Americans and 72% of U.S. Hispanics aged 13 and older identify as gamers, compared to 66% of the total population, according to Nielsen. Additionally, African Americans and U.S. Hispanics both view their mobile phone as a primary source of entertainment.

“I’m excited to be working with our Culture Genesis team to create Trivia Mob. We’re diversifying the tech world and building a platform for engaging content that caters to a more diverse culture,” said Gregg, a 30 -year-old Virginia native who rose to fame for his Vine videos and is now building an acting career with several feature films underway.

Each player gets 10 seconds to answer a total of 10 questions across various categories such as art, music, science and history. The players that get all 10 questions correct will take a share of the cash prize, with the winning “mob” earning mob points for sponsored prizes. Additionally, TriviaMob will reflect urban culture and design through partnerships such as with brand sponsor A.K.O.O. Clothing, founded by rapper and actor T.I. and Jason Geter of Grand Hustle (who will also serve as an advisor).

TriviaMob is currently available on the Apple store and will be released for Android in the coming weeks. For more information, visit www.triviamob.live.
